Wedding Photography At Harlaxton Manor
As a Harlaxton Manor wedding photographer, this is one venue that had been on my wishlist for a long time. The moment I drove through the gates, I completely understood why so many couples fall in love with it. Every corner feels like it belongs in a film, and as a photographer, it’s one of those places where inspiration comes so easily.
I had the opportunity to photograph this beautiful editorial with Elevate Workshops, and it gave me the chance to really explore everything Harlaxton Manor has to offer. Rather than rushing from one location to the next like you often do on a real wedding day, I could slow down, look at how the light moved through each room and find all those little spots I’d want to use with my own couples.
For me, that’s one of the best things about shooting at a venue before a wedding. I already know where the best light falls, which rooms work at different times of day and the places that make the most beautiful, natural photographs.
Photographing at Harlaxton Manor
Harlaxton Manor has so much variety, which is one of the reasons I enjoyed photographing here so much. Within a few minutes you can create images that all feel completely different without ever leaving the grounds.
The famous staircase has to be one of my favourite spots in the whole venue. It’s dramatic without trying too hard and photographs beautifully from so many different angles. Whether you’re standing at the bottom looking up or photographing from above, it creates such elegant portraits that feel timeless rather than overly posed.
I also loved photographing in the long hallways. They’re flooded with natural light, which is always something I look for. Soft window light is so flattering and gives photographs that bright, airy feel that I love. You don’t need lots of complicated posing when the light is this good. Sometimes simply walking hand in hand or stopping for a quiet moment together creates the best images.
Outside is just as beautiful. The gardens feel peaceful and there’s so much space that you never feel crowded. I always find couples relax much more once they’re outside, and that’s usually when the most natural photographs happen.
Capturing the Details
Although people will always be the most important part of a wedding gallery, I love photographing all the details that couples have spent months planning.
The stationery by Lucy McSpirit Design was the perfect example. Everything had a soft peach colour palette with beautiful textured paper that photographed so well. Details like this help tell the full story of a wedding day, and I always like to capture them before the day really gets going. They might seem like small things at the time, but they’re often the pieces couples keep long after the flowers have gone.
Harlaxton Manor has so many beautiful rooms that it’s easy to find clean, elegant backgrounds for detail photographs. Whether it’s styling invitations on one of the antique tables or using the beautiful window light throughout the house, there are endless possibilities.
A Dream Setting for Editorial Wedding Photography
Every part of this editorial felt thoughtfully put together, and it all worked so well with the character of Harlaxton Manor.
Stories of Events created a tablescape that felt elegant without being over the top. Soft peaches, creams and whites filled the room, while Emma Cox Floristry added beautiful flowers that softened the grand surroundings perfectly.
One thing I really liked was how nothing competed with the venue itself. The styling complemented the rooms rather than trying to steal the attention. That’s something I always love seeing because it allows both the venue and the details to shine together in photographs.
The Gold Room was probably my favourite place to photograph the styling. The warm tones of the walls and ceilings reflected so much beautiful light, making every image feel soft and luxurious without needing much editing afterwards.
Photographing the Bridal Look
The bridal look suited Harlaxton Manor perfectly. The gown from Veni Infantino Bridal was covered in beautiful pearl and beaded details that caught the light every time the model moved. Those little details are exactly the kind of thing I love photographing because they add so much texture and depth to an image.
One of my favourite features was the removable overskirt. It completely changed the look of the dress, giving two different styles without changing outfit. It’s always lovely when a dress allows that kind of variety because it means your gallery feels even more diverse.
The Hollywood waves created by Daniella Ingle Hair and Makeup Artist finished the look perfectly. Everything felt classic, timeless and elegant, which worked so well against the historic backdrop of Harlaxton Manor.
Why I Love Photographing at Harlaxton Manor
As a Harlaxton Manor wedding photographer, I don’t think it’s just the architecture that makes this venue so special. It’s the way it photographs throughout the entire day.
The large windows allow natural light to pour into so many of the rooms, which means you can create beautiful images even if the weather isn’t perfect. That’s something I always look for in a venue because we all know the British weather can be unpredictable.
I also love how many different backdrops there are within such a small area. In less than thirty minutes you can photograph on the staircase, in the hallways, inside the grand rooms and outside in the gardens, giving couples a gallery with so much variety without ever feeling like they’ve disappeared from their guests for hours.
That’s exactly how I like to work. I never want portraits to feel like a photoshoot. I want couples to enjoy a relaxed walk together, have a few quiet moments away from everyone else, and then head straight back to their wedding knowing we’ve created something beautiful without taking over the day.

The building does what it does best, and my job is simply to use that beautiful light and those incredible surroundings to create photographs that feel relaxed, timeless and full of genuine emotion.
