As a Sandy Cove wedding photographer, there are some moments that truly stand out in your career and photographing my dear friend Camilla’s wedding was one of those unforgettable highlights.
When you're asked to photograph another wedding photographer's wedding, it's a huge compliment, but I'd be lying if I said it wasn't a little nerve racking too. Wedding photographers spend their lives looking at photographs, noticing the little details and appreciating great light, so there's definitely a little extra pressure. When my friend Camilla asked me to photograph her wedding to Josh at Sandy Cove Hotel, I couldn't have been happier to say yes. It felt incredibly special to be trusted with such an important day, especially knowing how much photographs mean to her.
A Wedding Filled With Beautiful Details
Camilla looked absolutely incredible in her detailed Berta wedding dress. It suited her perfectly and felt effortlessly elegant while still having so much personality. Every intricate detail caught the light beautifully, making it a dream to photograph from every angle. Josh looked equally smart in his suit, and you could immediately see how excited he was to marry her. One of my favourite moments from the morning was seeing him waiting before the ceremony. There was a mixture of nerves and excitement that every groom experiences, and those genuine moments always make some of my favourite photographs.
As a Sandy Cove Hotel wedding photographer, I always try to document these quieter parts of the day just as much as the bigger moments. The finishing touches while getting ready, the final deep breath before walking down the aisle and the excitement building throughout the morning all become part of the story.
Incredible Florals Overlooking The Devon Coast
The flowers were honestly breathtaking. Created by the incredibly talented Zoe from Flourish and Grace, the floral design completely transformed the ceremony space while still allowing the incredible coastal backdrop to shine through. A beautiful flower arch framed the ceremony perfectly, overflowing with soft white and cream seasonal blooms. Positioned against the sea views, it created the most romantic setting for Camilla and Josh to exchange their vows.
The flowers continued throughout the day, from Camilla’s bouquet to the reception tables, tying everything together beautifully. I always love photographing weddings with thoughtful floral styling because flowers add texture, softness and movement to photographs without ever feeling overpowering.
They complemented the dramatic North Devon coastline perfectly, balancing the rugged landscape with something soft and romantic.
A Ceremony Full Of Emotion… And Two Very Special Guests
The ceremony itself couldn’t have been more personal. One of the sweetest parts of the day was that Camilla and Josh included both of their beloved dogs in the celebrations. Bailey proudly took on the important role of ring bearer and completely stole everyone’s hearts. Their other dog, Oscar, was also there to be part of the ceremony, making it feel like their whole little family was together for such an important moment. It’s always lovely when couples include their dogs in their wedding day because they’re such an important part of their lives. Those moments always bring genuine smiles, a few happy tears and photographs that become incredibly meaningful over the years.

Surrounded By Friends, Family And Fellow Wedding Creatives
This wasn’t just any wedding. Many of the guests were photographers and wedding suppliers who know exactly how much work goes into creating a wedding day. There was such a lovely atmosphere throughout because everyone was genuinely there to celebrate two people they cared about. The laughter never really stopped.
There were hugs everywhere you looked, emotional speeches, happy tears and plenty of moments where people completely forgot I had a camera in my hand. Those are always my favourite parts of any wedding because the most meaningful photographs happen when people are simply enjoying themselves.
Although I photograph weddings every weekend, this one felt particularly special because I wasn’t documenting strangers becoming friends. I was photographing a friend beginning the next chapter of her life, and that’s something I’ll always feel incredibly grateful for.

Camilla and Josh, thank you for trusting me with one of the biggest days of your lives. It really was such an honour to photograph your wedding, and one I’ll always remember. From the incredible sea views and beautiful styling to the emotional ceremony and the special role Bailey and Oscar played, every part of your wedding reflected who you are as a couple.

As a Sandy Cove Hotel wedding photographer, I always find myself drawn to the changing light here. Throughout the day the coastline looks completely different, from bright blue skies during the afternoon to soft golden light as the sun begins to set. It gives every wedding gallery so much variety while still feeling completely cohesive.
On Camilla and Josh’s wedding day, the weather couldn’t have been more perfect. Blue skies stretched across the coast, the sea sparkled behind the ceremony space and everyone was able to relax outside while taking in the incredible views. It’s one of those venues where you don’t have to go searching for beautiful locations. Everywhere you look offers another opportunity for natural, timeless wedding photography.
