Sophie & Tom’s celebration, with a ceremony at Chelsea Town Hall and reception at The Savoy in London, was truly unforgettable. Their day blended classic London charm, heartfelt moments, and sophisticated styling, creating the perfect backdrop for timeless wedding photography.
A Meaningful Ceremony At On Of London's Town Halls
Chelsea Town Hall has a way of making every wedding feel intimate, stylish, and deeply personal. Sophie & Tom arrived surrounded by their closest family and friends, gathering on the iconic steps with excitement and emotion, made capturing those natural moments easy. The ceremony room’s soft light and historic architecture added a romantic atmosphere as they exchanged heartfelt vows. Photographing their intimate ceremony was an absolute pleasure.
Portraits in the Heart of London by A Savoy Wedding Photographer
One of the things I love most about photographing weddings in London is having some of the world’s most recognisable architecture right on the doorstep. After leaving Chelsea, I took the newlyweds for a relaxed portrait session both outside and inside The Savoy Hotel. Sophie looked stunning in her textured long-sleeved gown, and Tom’s classic black tux added timeless sophistication. Together they brought such ease and elegance to every photograph.
A Luxury Reception Photographed at The Savoy Hotel
The celebration continued at the world famous Savoy Hotel, one of London’s most iconic luxury wedding venues and a personal city favourite of mine. I loved photographing the details from Sophie and Tom’s reception. The interiors offered warm light, art deco details, and beautiful touches that perfectly matched their vision of a modern yet classic city celebration. The thing I loved most from the details was the cake dessert table. I’m a big sweet person, and seeing this honestly warmed my heart a little.
Before joining their guests, we took a quick walk through the hotel, photographing in some of its most beautiful spaces for couple portraits. I used flash for most of this adding that vogue editoiral touch. My favourite place to photograph was the red lift, along with the Plaza entrance outside. The red lift is always popular with my couples as it adds a little bit of a boujee feel to the gallery.
Guests enjoyed champagne during the drinks reception, catching up with family and filling the room with laughter, which was perfect for me to capture those natural candid moments. The candlelit dinner, with soft evening light pouring through the windows, created the perfect backdrop for the heartfelt speeches. The whole celebration reflected the couple’s refined and luxurious style. Every moment felt elegant and effortless, exactly what The Savoy does best.
Why I Love Photographing Savoy Weddings
As a Savoy wedding photographer, I love capturing the blend of luxury, architecture, and emotion that a Savoy wedding offers. One of the most iconic couple portraits is taken in the “Red Lift,” London’s oldest surviving electric hotel elevator, with its red lacquer walls, gold mirrors, and velvet seating creating a bold, cinematic backdrop. I love to use flash in here as it adds to that modern vogue style all my couples are searching for. Sophie & Tom chose one of the more intimate spaces for their wedding breakfast, Princess Ida & Patience, which I felt suited my style perfectly. Filled with natural light and ornate detailing, making the perfect setting for timeless photos. The room’s grand fireplace also provided a beautiful focal point, which I love to capture some couple portraits in front of this, especially when styled with their wedding florals.
