The Vision: A Modern Take on Georgian Elegance

When I first started my career as a wedding photographer, I came across an online workshop held at a stunning Georgian townhouse: 10–11 Carlton House Terrace. As I browsed through the gallery, I knew it was a venue I wanted to photograph at someday. Fast forward eight years, and there I was, standing on The Mall by St James’s Park, looking up at the grand entrance, about to walk in for my very own editorial styled shoot.

Working alongside the fabulous Georgia Barber Events, we came up with an Indian fusion concept featuring gorgeous pinks and golds, alongside a classic Western look to show two completely different takes on the space.

The dining setup in the historic Music Room oozed details that reflected work designed by renowned architect John Nash. Delicate floral arrangements by Anomis Flowers topped a long trestle table in the middle of the light room. The ornate fireplace and tall windows became a main feature to photograph the couples around. The table styling was brought to life with tableware from Harriet’s Table, Table Alchemy, and bespoke stationery from Eliza May Prints.

For the fusion concept, Weddings by Lisa Marie created a breathtaking draped mandap framed by the tall windows in the Council Room, overlooking central London landmarks. As an Asian wedding photographer, capturing traditional details, and the emotion of multi-cultural celebrations in historic London spaces like this is always an absolute joy.

Our bride wore her own striking pink lehenga, paired with the groom in a classic black tuxedo. We started off with couple portraits in the upper gallery before moving to the iconic double staircase, a true black marble gem in the heart of Westminster.

Home to The British Academy, 10-11 Carlton House Terrace offers incredibly detailed rooms, but my absolute favorite portrait spot is outside on The Mall leading to Buckingham Palace. Using the exterior staircase to frame the building, it’s a great way to capture couple portraits with the busy city vibe and the venue framed right behind you.

Our second bride wore a gown by the talented Mara Marie Bridal, who I’ve worked with many times before and always smashes it out of the park. We also added a modern draped backdrop inside for portraits, a trend that continues to be popular at weddings across London.
