As a luxury wedding photographer in London, I’ve had the privilege of capturing some truly unforgettable moments, but Charlotte and Jai’s wedding was one for the books. With its elegant blend of timeless charm and modern sophistication, their celebration was the perfect example of a quintessential London wedding. From the intimate ceremony at Marylebone Town Hall to the glamorous reception at The Savoy, every detail of their day was infused with style and grace.

The Intimate Ceremony at Marylebone Town Hall

As a Marylebone Town Hall wedding photographer, it’s one of the most in demand registry offices in London, and for good reason. It’s set on Marylebone Road, right opposite Madame Tussauds, so you get that mix of iconic London street outside and a surprisingly calm interior once you’re in. The building is split across multiple ceremony rooms, but the Westminster Room is usually the one couples choose for larger ceremonies, with its high ceilings, long windows and rows of chairs facing the registrar’s table.

Charlotte wore a gorgeous Vivienne Westwood silk gown, and Jai, in a classic black tuxedo, felt completely in sync with the space. The ceremony itself took place in the Westminster Room, where the light comes in from the tall windows on one side, depending on the time of day it can be quite directional, which works really well for natural moments during the vows. Charlotte walked down the aisle with her father, and Jai’s eyes filled with emotion as he watched her approach.

After the ceremony, the flow of the building is quite structured. Couples come out of the Westminster Room and immediately into the wooden panelled corridors. There are a few spots where the light comes through from high windows onto the landings, which is where I tend to pull couples for quieter portraits before heading down the stairs. Once the guests have been ushered down stairs for the confetti shot, we can use one side for some quick couple portraits. This is usually face paced as the town hall usually has multiple ceremonies at one time depending on the month. It's a great time to incorporate those candid, natural moments with the couple walking down the stairs from behind then swapping it half way to the front.

The building itself was completed in 1920, designed by Sir Edwin Cooper, and it still functions as one of the main Camden registry offices. It’s not a single hall but a working civic building, so you’ll often see other ceremonies happening at the same time. That’s part of the rhythm of it, you’re moving through shared spaces, not a private venue, which keeps everything feeling quite real and fast paced rather than staged.

After photographing over 20 weddings here, whenever I get an enquiry for Marylebone Town Hall, I still get excited because no two weddings feel the same in that building, even though the structure never changes.

After the ceremony, we headed to one of the most iconic venues in London, The Savoy Hotel.
